Cruisin' For A Bruce-in: How To Hire A Lawyer Part 1 - Hire A Specialist

In Cruisin' For A Bruce-in, we ride along with Florida Attorney Bruce Denson as he gives brief explanations on Florida Law and what to do in common legal situations.

Transcript

I have five tips to help you find the right lawyer to represent you. In any pending case, it can be difficult to cut through the noise and find the right attorney, so let me give you a little guidance on how to pick the right person for you. So, the first is you want to find a lawyer that practices the kind of law that you need help with. So, if you’re facing a criminal charge, you want to find a criminal defense lawyer. You don’t want to find someone who just dabbles in criminal defense.

You want to find someone who is in the courthouse every day dealing with those judges, has a reputation with those prosecutors, and knows how to resolve your particular case. If you’ve got a toothache, you don’t want to pick a dentist who just dabbles in pulling teeth. You want to get someone who does it on a regular basis. The same with criminal defense lawyers: You want someone who knows how to deal with your particular type of charge.

Further Thoughts

The practice of law can be very nuanced. While anyone who is a licensed lawyer in the state of Florida may represent you in court, they may not have the experience required to get your case the best possible outcome. Choosing the right lawyer starts with choosing a specialist who knows how to try your particular case and has the results to back it up.
