Testimonials

  • Bruce was on task every step of the way. From the very beginning, he was able to stand out from other lawyers by communicating my options clearly and with certainty. He then executed everything that was discussed successfully. In my case, I was charged with a 2nd degree felony. Bruce was able to lower it to a 3rd degree, give me a withhold of adjudication, and keep me to 16 months of probation–which I did in 8 for good conduct…

  • Mr. Denson took my case literally a handful of days before my case was to be heard in court. He did a great job and was very thorough. He even followed up to ensure the court updated their records to note my ticket was dismissed. Great demeanor and very easy to work with.

  • Mr. Denson and his assistant Betty are top notch. Both of them had great professional yet personal demeanors and were easy to work with. Mr. Denson did a great job of handling my case. He saw it all the way through, even ensuring that the court updated their records and annotated my ticket as dismissed. I would definitely hire him again, but hoping I don’t need to.

About Bruce. H. Denson

Bruce Denson
I take pride in always providing my clients with high-quality, aggressive defense. As your attorney, I will:

  • Consult with you to understand your case and your particular needs for resolution
  • Thoroughly investigate the prosecutor’s case against you
  • Speak with any witnesses
  • Present motions that need to be heard by the judge
  • Investigate your defense
  • Represent you at trial needed

Since 1994, I have been involved in criminal justice in Pinellas County, Florida, and the Tampa Bay region. During that time, I have been both a prosecutor and, since 1998, a criminal defense attorney for clients facing Florida DUI charges, drug possession charges, robbery or burglary charges, rape or sexual assault charges, domestic battery charges, unlicensed contracting, and many other charges.

Do I Need a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

The answer is not always yes. There are two things to consider. Will the resolution of this case affect your life? Will your job, family, licenses, or reputation be negatively impacted by an arrest? Are you comfortable handling this yourself? If you are concerned with the impact of an arrest on your life and you are not comfortable handling the case by yourself, come see us for a free consultation to see if we are the right firm for you.

The Criminal Defense Process

Filing Decision

It is important to get an attorney involved early in your case. It may be the most important action you can take now. After your arrest, your case is sent to the State Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Early intervention can prevent the filing of charges or perhaps a reduction in charges. It is crucial to let the State know you are going to challenge the charges. Call us today to see if we can cut the prosecution short.

Arraignment

The Criminal Defense ProcessThe purpose of the Arraignment is to tell you what you are charged with, see if you are going to hire a criminal defense lawyer, and have you enter a plea. Your appearance is MANDATORY but if you hire us before the Arraignment, you will not need to go to court for this hearing as we will take care of all of the above. Take the stress out of this first court date by hiring us early.

Discovery

In Florida, we have open discovery. Everything the State has against you they must turn over to your attorney. We will get all of the police reports, witness lists, and evidence so we can fully defend your case. We will interview witnesses, take depositions and leave no stone unturned in fighting for you. Call us to make sure your case is thoroughly investigated.

Pretrial

Pretrial hearings, sometimes called Disposition hearings, are the chance for us to meet with the prosecutors and the court to discuss your case. Your appearance is mandatory unless we have made arrangements to waive your presence. It is not unusual to have 2-5 Pretrial hearings while we work on resolving your case in your favor. It is important that you are comfortable with the attorney you hire because you are going to be standing next to him in court. Call us today so we can build that relationship and your defense.

Resolution

The process has started. You need to take action now to make sure the resolution is the one that is best for your long-term interests and your immediate concerns. We always make every effort to have the case dropped or dismissed. If a dismissal is impossible we look to resolve your charges without a conviction. Your reputation and record are important to us. There are a number of positive ways to resolve your case. The best results start with early representation. Call us now for an appointment to discuss putting this behind you.
