Cruisin' For A Bruce-In: The Third Thing To Do When You Get Out of Jail

In Cruisin' For A Bruce-in, we ride along with Florida Attorney Bruce Denson as he gives brief explanations on Florida Law and what to do in common legal situations.

Transcript

Alright, Part Three of the first things you need to do when you get out of jail. Number one: Long hot shower, lots of soap. Number two: Tell yourself you can't change the past. Number three, and this might be the most important of them all: Recognize that the only thing you can control is your attitude. You can't control the prosecutors. You can't control the system. You can't control the cops. You can't control people making crazy accusations against you. The only thing you can control is how you react to it; That's a tough thing to do. It's easy to say it's harder to do but you need to control your attitude. Don't be mad, don't be angry. Start looking forward. That's gonna be lesson number four but right now I just want you to think about what can I do to control my attitude and how I'm looking at this situation.

Further Thoughts

Your attitude defines who you are in the days that follow your arrest. Like we said in lesson 2: You can't control the past so harping on what happened will do you absolutely no good. In times of trouble, you must remain calm and stay focused on moving forward.
