Traffic Ticket for High Beam Warning Could Cost Florida Millions

A Florida driver, Eric Campbell, issued a class action lawsuit against the Florida Highway Patrol because the FHP has ticketed 10,429 drivers for violating Statute 316.2397. The crime he was recently ticketed for was the often duplicated "high beam flash" to warn other drivers of oncoming speed traps. The ticket for "improper flashing of high beams" is not an official law, and in 2005 a court order was issued that said, "the state law does not prohibit the flashing of vehicle headlights."

The ruling on this lawsuit could cost you even if you have never been ticketed. The cost of damages to the FHP would be over $156 Million Dollars, and that is paid for, of course, by our taxes.
