In this series, we ride along with Florida Attorney Bruce Denson as he gives brief explanations on Florida Law and what to do in common legal situations.
Alright, it's October First, 2019, We've got a new law check here. Now: You can not have a cell phone in your hand when you are entering a school zone. That is a ticketable offense. So, put the phone down and drive. Put the hands at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel. Drive the speed limit. No cell phones in your hand in the school zone, in the school crosswalk or at active construction sites.
Texting and driving is dangerous. To protect everyone's safety, the best thing you can do is to pay attention to the road when you drive and put your phone out of your mind. To ensure the safety of students, teachers, parents, and construction workers, the State of Florida has made texting and driving in a school zone a ticketable offense - this means no other offense is required for you to receive a ticket.
